How to set up and enable Remote Play for the PS5

Remote Play is a family of features that Steam started rolling out in 2019, to make it easier for gamers to play together and stream and cast their playthroughs. Remote Play Anywhere is one of these handy features but, like many of Steam's features, it's a little difficult to find and use if you aren't already familiar with it. When using an access point provided by a commercial or public Wi-Fi service, or by a private wireless network, set up your system so that it can connect to that access point.
You can use PS Remote Play to display the PS5 or PS4 screen on your phone. You can control your PS5 and PS4 with the on-screen controller. This will allow you to use remote play when your PS5 is in rest mode, but, remember, you can't use remote play if your PS5 is turned off.
How to Access and Use Remote Play Anywhere
Any Apple device running iOS 13 or later can play PS Remote Play games using the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller via Bluetooth or through on-screen controls. Devices running iOS 14.5 or later can play with a DualSense wireless controller via Bluetooth5. You can play PS Remote Play on a variety of devices, including your PS5 and PS4 consoles. I hit a snag here and there where the connection would randomly drop after about 30 minutes or so. Even though the lag was barely noticeable, I still wouldn’t want to do any overly competitive gaming with it. Playing “Crucible” mode in Destiny, for example, would easily result in you going on a losing-spree. The lag was easily under 1 second, which is fine if you are playing something that doesn’t require lightning-fast reflexes. Overall though, I was extremely impressed with how well it worked.
While using Remote Play, you can send a wireless signal to your device from the console. From there, you can select the console you wish to play on and, as long as it's in rest mode or turned on, you'll be able to connect to it and remotely play a wide variety of games. Before you can use this feature, however, you need to ensure that you've correctly set up and enabled remote play on both your PS5 and whichever device you wish to use. To access and use Remote Play Anywhere, you need a Steam account on your primary computer.
When you finish pairing your devices, select the Start Playing icon on your connected device. You need to turn your computer on and have it running, have Steam installed, and sign in to your account, but your computer doesn't need to be running Steam for you to access your library. When streaming Steam games to a television, the primary upshot comes from display quality.
PC players can perform the device software update for their DualSense wireless controller by connecting it via USB cable to a PC device running Windows 10 or Windows 11. The DualSense wireless controller does not need to be connected to a PS5 console to perform the update.
